On Internet Can Get Google but No Other Sites

Do you mean that you opened a Command Prompt window, used the ping command and got something similar this (the "0% loss" in the bolded line is the most important fact):

C:\>ping google.com

Some malicious software knows that if yous accept an issue with your system, the starting time place about people look for some help is to get to Google to go assist and help to become rid of information technology.

The malicious software does not want you to remove information technology - information technology would be happiest if information technology makes you think that you need to use a Restore Signal, a Repair Install or just reinstall your XP from scratch.  Therefore, the malicious software will cake your efforts to get to Google (and other sites where yous might observe assistance).

It sounds like you lot accept tried a lot of things that are not working then I would make an attempt to be sure your system is not infected,  so fix the problem.

After the scans run clean, and so it should not exist too difficult to figure out why you can't become to Google.

Perform some scans for malicious software, and so fix any remaining issues:

Download, install, update and do a total scan with these gratuitous malware detection programs:

They tin can be uninstalled later if desired.

Reboot your figurer and troubleshoot remaining issues.

Hi, yeah I did do Ping and I also did Traceroute, and the Ping said:
Packets sent= 4, Received= 4, Lost= 0 (0%loss)

I besides practise take Malwarebytes installed on the system, and when I got the computer and installed it, it found 91 viruses on my system (Worms, Trojans, Rogue antivirus programs, and other malware). Information technology was able to remove all viruses, and plain, this issue was caused by the damage from one of the viruses.

I accept done other inquiry on the issue with my Windows seven laptop, which does have access to Google, and I found a aid thread from somebody else with this result. At the bottom, somebody stated that they establish out that the effect was caused by a virus that changed the IP address within the HOSTS file, and when they restored the file to it'due south defaults, it then worked. So, I looked upwards info on how to restore the HOSTS file, and was led to the Microsoft website where they have a patch to fix the Hosts file. I did that, and information technology worked. As it turns out, the virus that caused the trouble on my PC was the "Mytob Worm" virus. Anyways, thanks for your reply to endeavour and help me.

This happened to me.

I couldn't reach google or gmail on any browser.  I would become an fault like "DNS not plant"

all google services - gmail, google search, verification boxes - were failing on all browsers.  The google ip address didn't work either.

I could ping google.com from the control line.

I ran virus and spyware checks - goose egg.

I checked my hosts file, played with several network settings - no luck.

Restarted my computer - didn't help.

Stumbled on information technology - turned off my estimator & router for 10+ minutes.

Computer was back up, tried gmail/google *in*Chrome* - the "no network" dinosaur video game came up.

Router was still restarting.

Router came upwardly, tried gmail once again - WORKED!

Tried google.com - yet bad.

Disabled my Ethernet adapter, tried google.com over again - dinosaur game.

Enabled ethernet adapter, tried google.com again - WORKED!

Tried Firefox - google.com notwithstanding bad.

Now google.com bad again on Chrome.

Disable adapter, try google.com on Chrome again, enable adapter, google.com on Chrome ok.

Couldn't become the disable/enable trick to assistance on Firefox.

Router must exist storing some bad data for my reckoner.  Others using the router - wireless and wired - don't have the problem.

Tried to log into router - made a mistake and used 10.0.0.138 which failed.

At present google.com is bad again.

Got the right router accost, I can get to the router.

I might try a factory reset of the router (because I forgot the password anyway...)

Then - non all fixed, but at least it's possible to clear it up.
